Doyle Named March Player Of The Month

Toronto – The National Lacrosse League has announced the March player and rookie of the month awards and Toronto Rock captain Colin Doyle has been recognized as the league’s player of the month.  The monthly awards are determined by a vote of the league’s coaches and GM’s.

Doyle’s 2013 season has shown the Rock captain can still deliver and has silenced any critics that were of the opinion that his game was tailing off.  In his fourth season as captain of the Rock, the 35-year old has already topped the 80-point mark as he sits at 82 points entering the final two games of the regular season.

The captain’s biggest game of the month came on March 8th against the Colorado Mammoth as he scored 2 goals, 7 assists for a 9-point game.  In 5 March games, Doyle scored 11 goals and added 24 assists for 35 points.

This also marks the second consecutive month that a Rock player has been awarded player of the month honours as Garrett Billings was the February winner.

The NLL’s rookie of the month was once again Edmonton forward and 2012 number one overall pick Mark Matthews.

The Rock will wrap up their 2013 regular season schedule next Saturday, April 13th in Philadelphia against the Wings.  The game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network at 4:30pm ET.  For the best ticket in town, visit www.torontorock.com or call 416-596-3075.
