WILL THE ROCK WEATHER THE STORM?
Toronto, ON – This weekend the Toronto Rock travel to Anaheim, California to take on the Storm for the first time in franchise history. The Rock are coming off of a disappointing 14-12 loss to the Buffalo Bandits last Friday night at the Air Canada Centre. The loss saw the Buffalo Bandits gain a half game advantage over the Rock and first place in the Eastern Division.
The Anaheim Storm have dropped their last 5 games, the latest being a 1 point loss to the Colorado Mammoth last weekend. Despite the losing streak, the Storm aren’t a team to be taken lightly. Shawn Cable and Ryan Powell currently lead the way in Anaheim scoring with 24 and 20 point respectively.
“They have a strong game plan and have the ability to overtake teams because of their balanced scoring attack. They also have 2 of the best up and coming goaltenders in the league so our shooters will have to be on their game.” Terry Sanderson, Toronto Rock Head Coach and GM.
The Rock, currently ranked second in the Eastern Division, have 3 of the League’s top 10 scorers on the roster for Sunday’s game. Colin Doyle, 4th overall, has 49 points on 17 goals and 32 assists. Josh Sanderson and Blaine Manning are tied at 6th overall with 48 points a piece. Sanderson is currently 2nd overall in League assists as well.
“We’re looking for a win this weekend to give us that edge. Every team in this League is strong and every game is like a playoff game. Anaheim wants a win as bad as we do so we’re going to have to fight for this one.” Blaine Manning, Toronto Rock Forward.
This weekend’s game will be broadcast live on AM 640 Toronto at 7:30pm Eastern. Pre-game coverage with Joe Bowen and Blair Campbell begins at 7:00pm.
The Rock’s next home takes place on Friday March 18 when the Rock take on the Arizona Sting at 7:00pm. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster outlets online at www.ticketmaster.ca , by phone at (416) 872 5000 or in person at the Box Office at the Air Canada Centre.
