AMANDA CAMPBELL - Choreographer

 

 

Amanda Campbell has been with the Rock for  many seasons now....starting as a
dance team member and moving to a choreographer role.  Amanda has been teaching
dance competitively for 16+ years, her choreography has won numerous awards throughout
North America over the years and she also owned and operated her own dance studio for
several years.  Currently working on a successful career in the Human Resources world during
the day, Amanda is thrilled to be back at hard-core rehearsals on Thursday nights and to be
working with such a talented and beautiful group of dancers.  Go Rock Go!

 



 

 

CHRISTINE TAVARES - Choreographer
Christine Tavares is an award winning dancer, teacher and choreographer.  As a dancer, Christine has had the opportunity to perform across Canada, the United States, Europe and the Caribbean with performance roles in Fashion Cares: MAC Cosmetics ft. Amanda Marshall, David Usher, Angie Stone (A&E/Bravo), World Winter Games Opening Ceremonies ft. Susan Aglukark (TSN), Paramount Parks (Breakfast Television, CITY-TV), featured acrobat in Andrew Lloyd Webber's ‘Music of the Night' (Norwegian Cruise Lines), Epcot Walt Disney World and three seasons as dance captain with Paramount Canada's Wonderland in the main stage production. Industrial performances include: Bell Mobility, Bell Canada, Sears, Weekenders Canada and The Carlu.

As a teacher, Christine is fully qualified under Dance Masters of America (D.M.A.) and British Association of Teachers of Dancing (M.B.A.T.D.). With over 10 years of teaching experience, her students have been seen dancing professionally in music videos, commercials, movies, theme parks, theatre, television and the Canadian Salsa Team. Christine is also associated with the Professional Adjudicators Alliance (P.A.A.) and is a guest teacher to many studios and conventions across the province, including Metro Movement, OIP Dance Centre and George Brown College. 

As a choreographer, Christine has been the recipient of numerous choreography, adjudicator and teacher choice awards.  Her acclaimed choreography credits include: United Way, Canadian Cancer Society, Congress of Black Women, Alzheimer's Society, Summer Works, Moto Amore, Mayor's Gala, Motionball Gala, IFBB Toronto Pro-Show, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, West Side Story, Grease (Bluma Appel Theatre at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts in Toronto), and Women In Dance (Toronto Centre for the Arts). As the resident choreographer for the Toronto Rock Dance Team for two consecutive years, Christine is excited to return and choreograph for the 2010 season.   www.christinetavares.com



LA TOYA ROBINSON - Choreographer


La Toya Robinson has been dancing since she was able to walk. Trained in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and
Gymnastics since the age of 3, she currently works as a Hip hop dancer in the city! You may have
seen her in the movies, ‘Bojangles', ‘Honey' and ‘Save the Last Dance 2', or may have caught her
on stage dancing for Akon, Fergie, Blacked Eyed Peas, Massari, Jully Black, Flo-Rida and Kim Davis!
The past 3 years she has spent travelling around the world with Canadian artist Massari, visiting the
Middle-East, Europe, Africa and Australia. Last year, La Toya made an appearance on ‘So You Think
You Can Dance Canada' assisting head judge Tre Armstrong in the Disco routine and Luther Brown in
the Hip Hop top 12 opening number! Just this past New Years eve, you may have seen LaToya on City
TV's NYE 2010 Bash dancing for Kardinal Offishall. Stay tuned for more on this entertainer in and around
Toronto!  We are thrilled to have her with us this season as her experience is a real treat for the girls.

 

 

 

 

KIRSTEN HARVEY - Choreographer

Kirsten Harvey is a world-renowned dancer, choreographer, instructor, and professor.  She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts Degrees from the University of California, Irvine.  Ms. Harvey began her dance career studying with some of the best from the School of American Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, American Ballet Theatre, and the Opera National de Paris.  She danced with the Marla Bingham Contemporary Dance Company as a soloist in works such as Firebird, Sanctuary, and Vision.  Over the past ten years, she has worked with some of Hollywood's elite directors and choreographers such as Vincent Paterson, Marguerite Derricks, Anne Fletcher, and Jason Myhre.  She was signed at the age of fourteen by Kazarian Spencer and Associates and is a member of the Screen Actors Guild as well as the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.  Some commercial credits include acting roles on the television series Providence, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, commercials for Coke-a-Cola and Hallmark, as well as the movies A Time for Dancing (2000) and Fallen Star (2002).  

 Ms. Harvey is certified by Dance Masters of America in jazz and ballet where she is a master teacher for various conventions.  She has taught all levels of jazz, commercial, and hip-hop dance at Fullerton College and Mira Costa College while directing the award winning dance program at Tustin High School.  She has choreographed and staged musicals such as Oklahoma!, Grease, The Wiz, Cinderella, Godspell, and most recently Carousel.  Ms. Harvey has presented her research on jazz dance improvisation and improvography in Germany and England.  In 2009, she was appointed as an Assistant Professor of Jazz and Music Theatre Dance at Western Michigan University.  Ms. Harvey was recently selected to present at the Pasadena Dance Festival and is proud to be a guest choreographer for the Toronto Rock Dance Team this season.
