Alec Tulett Re-Signs 2-Year Pact

ALEC TULETT RE-SGNS 2-YEAR PACT

Steadily Improving Defender Could Make A Big Impact In Sophomore Season

Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock Owner, President and GM Jamie Dawick announced today that defender Alec Tulett has agreed to a two-year contract.  The signing is pending league approval.

The Rock selected Tulett in the fourth round, 35th overall in the 2017 NLL Draft.  After being unable to play during the 17-18 NLL season due to school commitments, Tulett made his pro debut the next year in the Rock’s 18-19 season opener in Buffalo.  Following that game, Tulett didn’t find himself back in the lineup again until March 16 in Rochester.  Once he was back in, he never came out, playing the final nine regular season games and both of the Rock’s two playoff contests.

“Alec worked hard every week between that first game in December and the game in March,” said Dawick.  “With last year’s short training camp, I think it took him some time to adjust to the pro game, but once the switch flipped on, he proved he can be a regular in this league.”

Tulett will be thrust into a bigger role this year as the Rock roster only boasts a pair of left-handed defenders.  Going forward, the 24-year old Toronto, ON native will likely draw some of the more difficult matchups against the league’s best right-handed offensive players.

“The second year of being a pro can often be the most challenging for a young defender.  However, we’re confident that Alec and his game are mature enough to continue along that upward trajectory we saw in his development in the second half of the season,” said Dawick.

The Rock’s depth at the lefty defender position took a major hit during the off-season with the injury to shut down defender Brock Sorensen who tore his Achilles tendon playing for Peterborough (MSL) and will miss the entire 19-20 campaign.

The Toronto Rock will open training camp on Saturday at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, ON.  The team’s first exhibition scrimmage will be next Saturday, November 9 against the Colorado Mammoth at 7pm ET at the TRAC.
