March 2, 2020

ROCK CHARITY GAME ON FRIDAY, MARCH 13TH

Register Now To Participate In The Game Worn Jersey Auction

Oakville, ON – The Toronto Rock are pleased to once again partner with Smilezone Foundation for this year’s charity game on Friday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Scotiabank Arena when the Rock takes on the Buffalo Bandits on Indigenous Heritage Night.

Funds raised from this year’s charity game will go towards new Smilezones at the Gané Yohs Community Health Centre in Ohsweken, ON.  The partnership between Smilezone and the Toronto Rock, assists Smilezone with the transformation of these spaces within different facilities into magical scenes of adventure, fun and intrigue to help alleviate anxiety and uplift the spirits of clients during their appointments.

Fans will have several different ways they can contribute to the fundraising efforts including participating in the live game worn jersey auction that will take place on the turf at Scotiabank Arena immediately following the game.  The design for this year’s charity night jerseys came together after a unique collaborative effort that saw Rock staff working alongside well-known designer Tracey Anthony of Six Nations.  The jerseys will be unveiled next week.

To participate in the live game worn jersey auction, fans must either register in advance at torontorock.com/auction or at the game on March 13 prior to halftime.

Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment will once again donate $1 for every ticket sold to the fundraising total.  You will also want to arrive early to get your hands on one of the wildly popular mystery autographed balls featuring the likes of Nick Rose, Challen Rogers, Tom Schreiber, Rob Hellyer, Adam Jones and more.  Fans that unwrap a specially marked mystery ball will have the chance to win additional prizes but the biggest win of all will be supporting Smilezone Foundation.  Additionally, fans can purchase a raffle ticket for the game-worn signed helmet raffle.

As a part of Indigenous Heritage Night, Six Nations of the Grand River chief Mark Hill will perform the land acknowledgement prior to the game.  Rock supporters from Shawanaga First Nation, located north of Parry Sound, ON, will form the Fan Tunnel to welcome the Rock players on to the floor during pre-game player introductions.  Youth from the Six Nations Minor Lacrosse Association will also suit up and take to the turf to participate in a halftime scrimmage.  On the concourse, fans will be able to learn about the history and what goes into the crafting of a wooden lacrosse stick from stick maker Daniel Bo Henhawk.

Smilezone Foundation is a registered charity committed to “putting smiles on children’s faces”.  The charity, founded by Adam Graves and Scott Bachly in 2012, established the overarching mission of assisting children and their families, who are facing difficult times and health challenges.  Smilezone’s mission is to create, build and transform areas (“Zones”) in hospitals, private treatment and development centres, and children’s clinics, in order to improve the lives of children facing illness, disabilities, and physical and emotional obstacles—ultimately putting a smile on their faces.  Visit smilezone.com for more information.
