Dan Lintner Receives One-Game Suspension

Crafty Forward Will Miss Home Opener Vs. Saskatchewan

Oakville, ON – The Toronto Rock will be without forward Dan Lintner for the team’s home opener against the Saskatchewan Rush on Saturday, January 14 as he will serve a one-game suspension for an incident in pre-season.

Lintner was originally given a major penalty for high sticking during the Rock’s final exhibition game on December 21 against Buffalo, which leads to a standard league review. Following the review, the league decided the infraction warranted supplemental discipline and assessed a match penalty to Lintner, which carries an automatic one-game suspension.

The league assessed the additional discipline under rule 63.3 – Match Penalty:

The referee, at his discretion, may assess a match penalty if, in his judgment, the player or goalkeeper was reckless or endangering his opponent by illegal cross checking.

The Professional Lacrosse Players’ Association (PLPA) originally appealed the suspension handed down to Lintner, which allowed him to play in the Rock’s season opening 12-5 win over the Rochester Knighthawks on December 29. With the withdrawal of the appeal, Lintner will now serve the one-game suspension in Toronto’s next game on January 14 when the Rock play the Rush.
