The Toronto Rock is partnering up with the Beaches Lacrosse Club and the Mimico Mountaineers Lacrosse Club this summer to present the 1st Annual Toronto Rock City Cup on Wednesday July 16th, 2008.
The event will feature two of Toronto’s biggest minor lacrosse associations, Beaches and Mimico playing a best-of-3 series tournament. Both Beaches and Mimico will bring along their All-Star Novice, Peewee and Bantam teams to face off against each other in this inaugural event.
The Toronto Rock City Cup is free for all fans and will take place in the Toronto Beaches at the outdoor rink/box at the base of KEW Gardens. KEW Gardens begins at Queen Street and Lee Avenue in the Beaches and runs South right down to the lake. The outdoor box is just before you reach the water.
The festivities will kick off around 4:00 p.m. with an opening ceremony for the tournament and conclude around 9:30 p.m. when the winning club has been determined and the Cup and medals have been handed out.
Other activities during the event will include an inflatable lacrosse target game, food & drink service as well as face painting & other activities. The Toronto Rock, Mimico and Beaches lacrosse will have tents set up with information and merchandise available and fans will also have a chance to win raffle prizes throughout the evening.
Mookie Wilson, the in-game “Voice of the Rock” and morning show host on New Country 95.3 will host the on-floor activities and kids will have the opportunity to participate in an on-floor scrimmage with the Toronto Rock.
The on-floor lacrosse games & activities are scheduled as follows:
5:00 p.m. – Game #1 – Novice
6:05 p.m. – On-floor scrimmage with Toronto Rock players
– Kids must have helmet, glove & stick to participate in scrimmage
6:30 p.m. – Game #2 – Peewee
8:00 p.m. – Game #3 – Bantam

In the case of rain or inclement weather the Toronto Rock City Cup will move indoors to the Ted Reeve Arena at Gerrard Street and Main Street in Toronto.
