Toronto – The Toronto Rock (3-2) head to Rochester this weekend after a bye week to face the defending NLL Champions, Rochester Knighthawks for the first time this season at the Blue Cross Arena at 7:35 p.m. EST.
In 2007, the Rock were defeated by the Knighthawks in three games including a tough loss in the East Division semi-final on the road. The Rock are looking to build on a two game winning streak and bring their record to 4-2. A win over the Knighthawks this weekend would be their first victory at the Blue Cross arena since the NLL Championship game in 2003.
Forward Blaine Manning leads the Rock with 30 points (12 goals, 18 assists) and is coming off a seven point game (2 goals, 5 assists) against the New York Titans in the Rock’s comeback win at home on January 26th. Josh Sanderson is right behind Manning with 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists). Manning and Sanderson are among the six eligible Rock players added to the 2008 All-Star game ballot this week, for the Sunday March 16th NLL All-Star game in Edmonton. Joining them are Aaron Wilson, Jim Veltman, Peter Lough and goaltender Bob Watson. Voting takes place at www.nll.com/community until February 24th 2008.
The Knighthawks sit at 1-3 heading into the game this weekend as a result of three straight losses to Buffalo, Philadelphia and most recently an 18-17 loss to the Minnesota Swarm on January 26th.
The game will be available live on the B2 Network. The webcast can be purchased online for $7 USD. A high-speed internet connection and a current version of Microsoft Windows Media Player will be required to watch the game. The Toronto Rock return home next weekend to host the Buffalo Bandits at the Air Canada Centre on Friday February 15th at 7:30 p.m. EST.
