OAKVILLE, ON – Toronto Rock Owner and General Manager Jamie Dawick today announced the signing of faceoff specialist Nick Rowlett to a 2-year agreement that will keep him dominating at the dot with the reigning NLL Champion Rock.
The signing is pending league approval.
“Nick was a very important piece of us winning and we are excited to have him back,” said Dawick. “We were struggling on faceoffs and we knew Nick was serviceable option in our opinion, but he brought so much more to the table. He played with grit and sandpaper, made some big plays, came up with big loose balls, and set up and scored goals. He exceeded our expectations and we look forward to the future with Nick in the fold.”
The 26-year-old who hails from Burke, VA arrived on the scene and instantly endeared himself to both his teammates and the fans in Rock City with his work ethic and playing much bigger than he is. The Rock acquired Rowlett from Philadelphia on February 12 in exchange for a 2026 fourth round pick in the NLL Entry Draft. Dawick often said it was the best value he’s ever received for a fourth-round pick in a trade.
While it took him 24 career games to notch his first NLL goal, it was just his second game in a Rock uniform when Rowlett dented the twine against the Warriors in Vancouver. The goal came just 7 seconds after a Challen Rogers goal and gave the Rock the kind of juice they would see Rowlett deliver throughout the rest of the season.
In the postseason he appeared in all six Rock playoff games on the way to the franchise’s seventh NLL title. He posted a 44.7% faceoff win rate while going up against some of the league’s best at the position in Jake Naso (SSK), Trevor Baptiste (SD), and Jake Withers (HFX).
“Nick went through three of the top faceoff guys in the NLL playoffs and he more than held his own,” explained Dawick. “He took away the advantage those teams would have had in that area and that was a big part of our ultimate success.”
NLL Free Agency is slated to begin on September 1.
