Phil Sanderson Re-Signs With Rock

Toronto – The Toronto Rock have agreed to terms with five players including veteran defender Phil Sanderson.  The three-time National Lacrosse League Champion’s Cup winner has signed a 2-year agreement to remain with the Rock.

In addition to the signing of Sanderson, the Rock also signed 2011 draft picks Jesse Gamble, Kyle Davis and Phil Rawn as well as free agent Martin Whittaker to one-year agreements.

Sanderson, 34, is a 12-year veteran of the NLL having played in Albany, San Jose, Buffalo and Toronto.  In 182 career games, he has amassed 24 goals, 92 assists and 116 points.  Two of his three NLL titles were won in a Rock uniform (2005 and 2011) with the other coming as a member of the Buffalo Bandits in 2008.

Despite winning the NLL Championship in 2011, the Rock have made several changes to their roster in the off-season with a number of key members of their title winning defence departing via trades.  Those moves have certainly elevated the importance of the return of an experienced and savvy defender like Sanderson.

The Rock will open their 2011 NLL training camp in late November at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Six Nations.  The regular season begins on Sunday, January 8th at Air Canada Centre when the Rock hosts the Calgary Roughnecks.

2012 season and single game tickets are now on sale.  For more information on a ticket package that is right for you, please call 416-596-3075 or check out www.torontorock.com.
