Rock Sign Silas Richmond to 3-Year Agreement
Another Second Overall Pick Inked
Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock Owner and GM Jamie Dawick today announced the signing of Silas Richmond to a 3-year agreement. The second overall selection in the 2026 NLL Draft joins the Rock as the next in a long line of second overall picks on the roster which includes Challen Rogers (2016), Sam English (2024), and Ty English (2025).
Richmond will wow the crowd with his dynamic finishing ability along with a knack for being able to fire heavy shots at the cage from anywhere on the floor and have success. It was well documented leading into the 2026 NLL Draft that Richmond just loves the game, proclaiming he really doesn’t go anywhere without his stick. His youthful exuberance and personality will endear him to the Rock City faithful in no time.
“He’s going to bring a lot to the table, probably much more than we know at the moment,” said Dawick. “When we had Silas at the TRAC for a workout prior to the NLL Draft, he showed off his full skill set. Following that workout, we knew we would be picking Silas second overall if he was there at number two. He’s a special player and we are excited to see how he develops.”
About that workout, the only piece of his own equipment Richmond used was the head of his lacrosse stick. His equipment was delayed in transit so he participated in the workout with borrowed gear from head to toe. While perhaps a minor speed bump in the big picture, he showed that a little adversity will be no problem to overcome for the 23-year-old native of Delta, BC.
He started his Jr. A career in BC with his hometown Delta Islanders but finished with the Port Coquitlam Saints. A terrific stat line of 9G-7A-16PTS in only four Minto Cup Canadian Jr. A Championship tournament games was certainly his coming out party. Canadian Lacrosse fans from coast-to-coast took notice of the budding lacrosse star on the game’s biggest non-professional stage.
On the NCAA Division I lacrosse scene, he was also turning heads earning USILA honourable mention All-America honours in 2025 and 2026 at the University of Albany.
After having spent time in the WLA playing for Burnaby in 2025 against bigger, stronger competition and winning the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) championship with the Philadelphia Waterdogs and teammate CJ Kirst, Richmond is ready and anxiously waiting to make his NLL debut this season with the Rock.
Roster Moves
On Wednesday, the Rock placed 2026 NLL Draft picks Will Sheehan, Andrew McKeekin, and Brooks English on the Draft List. Sheehan and McMeekin are presently unable to commit to playing in the NLL while English is back at Brown University for a fifth year of NCAA eligibility.
TD Ierlan was moved from the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List to the Holdout List. (Pending League Approval)
Earlier, the Rock released their rights to Restricted Free Agent Justin Martin on October 26 making him and Unrestricted Free Agent.
