What to watch for vs. Halifax Thunderbirds

Rock Go Coast To Coast With Road Games

HALIFAX, NS – The Toronto Rock (7-5) are on the east coast in search of another win to take a major step towards the playoffs when they face the Halifax Thunderbirds (5-7) tonight at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, NS.

Fans can watch the game vs. Halifax at 6:30pm ET on TSN 5. Alternatively, tune in on TSN’s digital platform TSN+ via TSN.ca and the TSN App as well as ESPN+.  To stream the game on TSN+ or ESPN+, a paid subscription is required.

Here’s what to watch for in Friday’s matchup.

  • The Rock endured a long travel day on Friday as the team flight was cancelled and the team spent the bulk of the day at the airport in Toronto before finally getting in the air just after 10pm ET. The team arrived in Halifax shortly after 1am AT.  The team took the floor for shoot around at 10:30am Friday to prep for tonight’s showdown.
  • The Toronto Rock made one move at the trade deadline acquiring defensive depth in the form of Josh Jackson. The big-bodied defender is in his third NLL season and was acquired from the Las Vegas Desert Dogs on Monday less than an hour prior to the 3pm ET deadline.  The Rock sent their 2027 3rd round pick to LVDD in the deal.
  • The streak ended! Owen Hiltz had scored a goal in each of his first 11 NLL games, but last week he was held without a goal for the first time in his NLL career.  He did however pickup 3 assists in the Rock’s 13-10 win over Vancouver.
  • Nick Rose made his triumphant return in last weekend’s road win and looked like he was in mid-season form making 39 saves on his way to another win.
  • INJURY REPORT: TD Ierlan is on the PUP List. Zack Kearney, Kobe Handsor, and Robert Hudson are on the Season Ending Injured Reserve List. Justin Martin (Lower), Phil Mazzuca (Upper), and Chris Weier (Upper) are on the Injured Reserve List.
  • The Rock will return home next weekend to host the Saskatchewan Rush on Marvel Super Hero Night on Friday, March 20 at 7:30pm ET at TD Coliseum in Hamilton.

A new episode of the Toronto Rock Total Access Podcast also dropped as we get to know the newest member of the Rock Josh Jackson.
