Toronto – The Toronto Rock are pleased to announce their complete 2013 NLL regular season schedule. The Rock open the season with a trip to the province of Alberta to face both Calgary and Edmonton before returning to Air Canada Centre to begin the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, January 19 against Philadelphia.
The National Lacrosse League announced the entire 2013 regular season schedule today and the complete schedule can now be found at www.nll.com.
The Toronto Rock play in the East Division along with the Buffalo Bandits, Philadelphia Wings and the defending NLL champion Rochester Knighthawks. The 5-team West Division consists of the Calgary Roughnecks, Colorado Mammoth, Edmonton Rush, Minnesota Swarm and Washington Stealth. Each club will play a 16-game regular season schedule.
The 2013 NLL Playoffs begin on the weekend of April 26-28. The playoff format remains unchanged, with eight teams advancing in a single-elimination format. The Divisional Semifinals will be played on the weekend of April 26-28. The Divisional Finals will take place on the weekend of May 3-5. The Championship Game is scheduled to take place on the weekend of May 10-12.
This season, Rock fans will have the opportunity to see a couple of teams they have not seen hit the turf in Toronto for some time. The Minnesota Swarm will play at Air Canada Centre for the first time since 2009 when they visit the Rock on Friday, January 25. Also, Colorado will play in Toronto after an even longer gap between visits as their last trip north was in 2007. The Mammoth will be in Toronto to face the Rock on Friday, March 8.
“The parity in the league means there are no easy games for anyone,” said Rock Owner and President Jamie Dawick. “Despite how much everyone talked about how evenly matched every team was last season, I think everyone learned a lesson. You have to come to play every night in this league or you’re going to lose, it’s just that simple. We also want to be at the top of the standings in the regular season to guarantee that we are playing in front of our fans in May. It’s something that is very important to everyone in our organization.”
