Challen Rogers Placed On IR, Rock Acquire Alex Kew

Toronto Sends 6th Round Pick To Buffalo

Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock Owner, President, and GM Jamie Dawick announced a series of transactions today including a trade with the Buffalo Bandits to acquire some roster depth heading into the back half of the schedule.

The most notable of the roster shuffle is the move of Captain Challen Rogers to the Injured Reserve List with an upper body injury sustained in the Rock’s recent win over New York.  Rogers is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

As for the trade, the Rock have sent their 6th round pick in the 2024 NLL Draft to the Buffalo Bandits to acquire right-handed defender Alex Kew.  Kew was on the Bandits’ Practice Roster and will slide into the same roster position with the Rock.  Kew spent time with the Oakville Rock of Ontario Series Lacrosse this summer under the guidance of Rock Head Coach Matt Sawyer.

“We are up against it with some injuries right now,” said Dawick.  “Alex is someone we have some familiarity with, and we needed to bring in some depth, so he’s a good fit for us.”

Moving to the Active Roster from the Practice Roster is offensive lefty Marley Angus.  The final piece of today’s transactions is the removal of the Practice Roster tag from Zack Kearney who has been retained on the Active Roster.

All transactions are pending league approval.
