FOUR NAMED TO ALL-NLL TEAMS

The National Lacrosse League announced today the All-NLL Teams for the 2010 season. Four members of the Toronto Rock were named to the two teams.

Sandy Chapman was named to the First Team All-Pro, while Rock captain Colin Doyle made Second Team All-Pro.

Stephan Leblanc and Garrett Billings were the top two members on the NLL All-Rookie team.

The league awards are determined by a vote of the league executives, general managers and head coaches.


Sandy Chapman, Defense: Chapman, the Defensive Player of the Year, played an integral role in the Toronto Rock’s revamped defence under first-year Rock head coach Troy Cordingley. After playing for the Rock from 2002-2005, Chapman returned to Toronto this season and enjoyed a standout season on the back end. He played in all 16 games, totalling career highs in loose balls (86) and penalty minutes (27). With the help of Chapman, the Rock averaged the second least goals against (9.75) during the regular season. He also chipped in with the second most goals of his career, netting four scores.

Colin Doyle, Forward: Acquired by the team with which he won five Championships with prior to the start of the season, Doyle finished third in the league in assists (62) and eighth in points (84). A leading force for Toronto, Doyle captained the Rock back into the playoffs for the first time since 2007, and back to the Championship Game since his last apperance in 2005.

Stephan Leblanc, Forward: Leblanc, the Rookie of the Year, finished the regular season with 82 points, leading all rookies in goals with 36. His 46 assists were second only to teammate Garrett Billings. Toronto’s third pick in the 2009 draft, 11th overall, finished in the top 14 league-wide in points (12th), goals (t-6th) and assists (t-14th).

Garrett Billings, Forward: Billings finished alongside Leblanc in the rookie scoring race and ended his first campaign with 33 goals and 50 assists (83 points). The sixth overall pick in the 2009 Entry Draft led all rookies in assists and points, and finished tied for 11th in goals, 10th in assists and tied for 9th in points league-wide.
