Miller To Active & No Suspensions For Merrill & Sorensen

Arbitrator Rules In Favour Of Rock Players With No Suspensions Levied

Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock Owner, President and GM Jamie Dawick has announced that Brandon Miller has been placed on the Active Roster from the Injured Reserve List. Moving to the practice roster is goaltender Riley Hutchcraft.

Earlier Friday morning, the NLL announced that an independent arbitrator ruled in favour of Rock players Brock Sorensen and Brodie Merrill who were both given suspensions by the NLL following the Rock’s win over Vancouver on January 6. Sorensen was suspended for being involved in the second fight on a stoppage and Merrill was suspended for illegally leaving the bench to start an altercation.

The Professional Lacrosse Players Association (PLPA) appealed the suspensions on behalf of the players allowing them to continue to play until a hearing could be held. The arbitrator ruled that neither player was in violation of the rules and both Sorensen and Merrill will be in the lineup this weekend.

Back in the crease, Miller has been on the IR for the last few weeks since suffering an upper body injury prior to the Rock’s December 30th home game against Buffalo. Hutchcraft had been serving as the backup to Rock starter Nick Rose in Miller’s absence.

The Rock host the New England Black Wolves on Saturday at Air Canada Centre at 7:00 p.m. The game can be seen live on NLLTV.com and is also the Twitter Game of the Week. Saturday’s home game is presented by Bell Let’s Talk.
