Rock and Stealth will meet in Pre-Season

On Saturday December 10, 2011 the Toronto Rock and Washington Stealth will play a preseason game at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, British Columbia.  The Rock and Stealth have met in the NLL Championship Game for the past two consecutive years with the Stealth winning in 2010 and the Rock victorious in 2011.

Rock forward Garrett Billings hails from Langley and grew up playing minor lacrosse there until leaving to play Junior A in Burnaby.

“It’s a great opportunity to play a professional game in my hometown,” expressed Billings.  “There hasn’t been any pro lacrosse in BC in a long time and this will be big for Langley and the entire BC lacrosse community.”

The entire weekend promises to be a great one for lacrosse players, coaches and fans alike.  Activities start off with a Coaches Chalk Talk and social Friday December 9th led by coaches of the Toronto Rock and Washington Stealth, followed by both teams opening their practices to the public the morning of Saturday December 10th, and hosting on-floor player clinics Saturday afternoon (led by coaches and players from both teams), a post-game autograph session, and meet the teams social at the Langley Events Centre following the game.

This will also mark the second consecutive season the Rock will travel west during the NLL exhibition season.  Last season the Rock traveled to Denver, Colorado in the preseason to play the Colorado Mammoth.

“Last year’s trip provided us a chance to get in some team bonding before the season got underway,” said Rock Captain Colin Doyle.  “The road game also gets everyone back into the routine of preparing to play on the road.”

The remainder of the Toronto Rock exhibition schedule and training camp will be announced in the fall along the Toronto’s regular season schedule for the 2012 NLL campaign.

Tickets for the exhibition game between the defending NLL Champion Toronto Rock and the Washington Stealth go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, July 5 at 10:00AM PST.  For more information on tickets and the Langley Events Centre, please visit their website www.langleyeventscentre.com.
