Rock Announce Exhibition Game In Montreal

Montreal, PQ – Wednesday morning it was announced that the NLL will return to Montreal’s Bell Centre on Saturday, December 15th at 7:30pm when the Rock face the 2012 Champion’s Cup winners, the Rochester Knighthawks.  The NLL left Montreal after the Express suspended operations following their lone season in 2002.

“Rochester is a good rival of ours,” said Rock Owner and President Jamie Dawick at Wednesday’s press conference.  “We look forward to coming down here on (December) 15th.  I know it’s an exhibition game, but it’s an important time in our preseason.  I’ll tell you right now, we’ll be coming here to win the game.”

“It’s a great honour for the NLL to come back to the Bell Centre and be in a world class facility,” said NLL Commissioner George Daniel who was also on hand for the press conference.  “Hopefully, this game will be a spring board to bring the NLL back (to Montreal) on a more permanent basis.”

Rock forward Garrett Billings, who set a new single season franchise record with 114 points in 2012, also spoke at the press conference and expressed his excitement about playing in Montreal.

“I’m looking forward to getting back at the Knighthawks,” said Billings.  “There’s also a real excitement among the players about getting the chance to play in a sports city like Montreal in front of some of the best sports fans anywhere.”

Tickets for the exhibition game will go on sale this Saturday at 9am and can be purchased by visiting www.evenko.ca.

The Toronto Rock will open their official training camp on Saturday, December 1st at the brand new, world-class, Toronto Rock Training & Practice Facility in Oakville, ON.  The Rock will play three exhibition contests in preparation for the 2013 regular season including the game in Montreal, PQ.

The Rock will host a pair of exhibition scrimmages at their new practice home in Oakville during the month of December.  On Saturday, December 8th at 7pm the Edmonton Rush will be Toronto’s opponent.  The Philadelphia Wings will wrap up the Rock pre-season slate of matchups on Saturday, December 22nd also at 7pm.  More information on the two scrimmages at the Toronto Rock Training & Practice Facility will be announced soon.
