Fans Now Asked To Vote For Smilezone Rock Jersey At Headwaters Health Care Centre

Oakville, ON – The Toronto Rock are pleased announce their 2016 charity fundraising total of $84,641 benefitting the Smilezone Foundation. During the 2016 season, fans were able to support the Rock’s fundraising efforts in various ways including a live jersey auction, an online auction and the 50/50 draws at Rock home games throughout the season.

There’s still more to come with the official opening of the Smilezones at Headwaters Health Care Centre in Orangeville, Ontario and you the fans will be able to vote on just what jersey will hang alongside those of Josh Sanderson, Colin Doyle and Nick Rose in the Paediatric Playroom. At this year’s charity night on April 9th, the Rock raised $26,841 through several different channels. Fans were able to bid on their favourite player’s jersey and win it right off their back at the live post-game on-floor auction. Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment donated one dollar for every ticket sold and fans were also able to make cash donations on game-night at the TeamShop at Air Canada Centre. A new wrinkle this year was the mystery autographed ball raffle. For just $20 fans were the lucky recipient of an autographed ball from a Toronto Rock player and could win additional prizes depending on what mystery ball they selected. The autographed mystery balls sold out before halftime. Leading up to the game, there was also an online auction featuring Toronto Rock game-worn memorabilia and experiences.

Also this season, the Smilezone Foundation and their volunteers sold 50/50 draw tickets at every Toronto Rock home game at Air Canada Centre and from the 50/50 ticket sales raised an incredible $57,800.

The Smilezone Foundation’s mission is to create, build and transform areas (Zones) in hospitals, private treatment and development centres, and children’s clinics, in order to improve the lives of children facing illness, disabilities, and physical and emotional obstacles—ultimately putting a smile on their faces.

The Smilezone Foundation is a registered charity committed to “putting smiles on children’s faces.” The charity, founded by Adam Graves and Scott Bachly, established the overarching mission of assisting children, and their families, who are facing difficult times and health challenges.

The grand opening of the new Smilezones in Orangeville at Headwaters Health Care Centre is scheduled for Wednesday, July 27th and voting for the fourth jersey to hang in the Smilezone will close on June 30th.
