ROCK SIGN THREE FREE AGENTS

Crough, Crawford & Shewell Agree To 1-Year Deals

Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock Owner, President and GM Jamie Dawick today announced the signing of three unrestricted free agents to 1-year contracts. Defenders Eric Shewell and Jayson Crawford along with forward Matt Crough have all inked 2017 pacts, pending league approval.

“All three of these players have experience at NLL camps and know first hand just how difficult it is to make a team’s roster in this league,” said Dawick. “The addition of these three players increases the competition for jobs at our training camp and I’m looking forward to see what these players do with the opportunity.”

Crough was originally selected by New England in the 2nd round, 15th overall in the 2014 NLL Draft. He played in a pair of games in 2015 for the Black Wolves and picked up two assists. The 25-year old offensive righty hails from Peterborough, Ontario and played his junior lacrosse for his hometown Peterborough Junior A Lakers while playing collegiately at Dowling College.

The 23-year old Crawford is a native of Caledon, Ontario and is a fast and feisty transition player. Taken in the 4th round, 34th overall in the 2014 NLL Draft by New England, Crawford has attended Black Wolves camp in 2014 and 2015 but failed to make the active roster coming out of camp. He played his junior lacrosse for the Halton Hills Junior B Bulldogs winning the Founders Cup in 2010 alongside current Rock defender Bradley Kri and recently signed Rock forward Michael MacDonald.

Gritty Eric Shewell played his junior lacrosse at home with the Peterborough Junior A Lakers. In his final season of junior lacrosse in 2013, that sandpaper he brings to the rink earned him 100 penalty minutes in just 17 games. Known as a steady defensive presence, the 24-year old Shewell went undrafted after graduating from junior lacrosse but was signed by the Colorado Mammoth prior to last season and attended their training camp.

The NLL Draft is less than a week away as Monday, September 26th marks one of the biggest days of the NLL off-season. The annual player selection process begins at 7 p.m. ET next Monday at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ontario.

2017 Toronto Rock season tickets are now on sale and start at just $195. For more information, please contact a Toronto Rock account executive at 416-596-3075 or visit torontorock.com.
