Rock Will Host 2014 NLL Draft & Combine

Toronto, ON – The National Lacrosse League has announced the Toronto Rock as the host of the 2014 NLL Draft and Combine weekend.  The NLL Draft will take place on Monday, September 22nd and the NLL Combine will run on Saturday, September 20th and Sunday, September 21st, all at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (TRAC) in Oakville, ON.

“We are honoured to once again host the NLL Draft and Combine weekend at the TRAC,” said Rock Owner and President Jamie Dawick.  “The event marks the official kick-off to the 2015 season as teams will be begin to shape their rosters for the coming season.”

The Rock currently do not have a first round draft pick as it went to Calgary in March of 2012 to acquire goaltender Nick Rose.  Their own second round pick went to Philadelphia earlier this year in the deal for Brandon Miller, so the first Rock selection will be in the second round, 17th overall.  It’s a pick that was additional compensation from Calgary in the Rose deal in 2012 when the Rock failed to reach the Champion’s Cup final.

Also, the 2014 NLL Awards Gala will be held on Sunday, September 21st at the TRAC.  Three finalists for each league award were announced in the recent weeks and the winners will be announced at the September event.

Toronto Rock forward Garrett Billings is up for two awards.  He is a finalist for the MVP Award for which he has been the runner-up in each of the last two seasons and also the Sportsmanship Award, which he won for the first time in 2013.

Voting for the various league honours was conducted during the final week of the regular season at the end of April.

There will be more details to follow in the coming weeks regarding both the NLL Draft and Combine as well as the NLL Awards Gala.  Please visit nll.com and torontorock.com for the latest news.
