TORONTO ROCK ACQUIRE TIM O’BRIEN FROM SWARM

The Toronto Rock acquire Tim O’Brien from the Minnesota Swarm in exchange for Toronto’s second round pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft.

Minnesota selected O’Brien in the second round, 14th overall, in the National Lacrosse League’s dispersal draft of Orlando Titans players last Friday.

Standing at 6’2″, 220 lbs. Rock general manager, Terry Sanderson, calls O’Brien a “welcome presence” to the team.

O’Brien, an eight-season veteran, began his career in 2000 playing for the Rochester Knighthawks. Since then he has played with the New York Saints, Albany Attack, Toronto Rock and Orlando Titans.

“Tim has played with us before, and fulfilled his duties on this team,” said Sanderson of the Edmonton, Alberta native that wore a Rock sweater for 16 games between 2005-2007.

Sanderson also believes that O’Brien’s presence will help address toughness when heading into matchups against Rochester and Buffalo.

“Tim will help in that department; he’ll give our offensive guys a little more room to work,” said Sanderson.
