What to watch for vs. Rochester Knighthawks

A Premier Matchup On Country Night

Hamilton, ON – The Toronto Rock (8-2) are coming off a bye week riding a seven-game win streak into a huge East Conference battle with the Rochester Knighthawks (8-2) on Saturday night at FirstOntario Centre.  The Knighthawks got the better of the Rock in their first meeting, winning 11-7 in Rochester.

Fans can watch the game vs. Rochester at 7:00pm ET on TSN as well as TSN’s digital platform TSN+ via TSN.ca and the TSN App.  To stream the game, simply login to TSN+ with your cable or satellite provider’s credentials or your TSN+ account info if you’re a subscriber to the streaming service.

Here’s what to watch for in Saturday’s matchup.

  • History could be made tonight! Dan Dawson has been sitting at 1,499 career points and was moved to the Active Roster from the Injured Reserve List by the Rock on Friday.  His next point will make him just the second player in NLL history to reach the 1,500-point plateau.  John Tavares being the other.
  • To make room for Dawson’s return to the Active Roster, Josh Dawick was moved to the Practice Roster. Dawick scored twice at Georgia and added 3 assists on Feb. 18 also against Georgia, in Dawson’s absence.
  • This current 7-game Rock win streak equals the 2nd longest such streak in franchise history, also accomplished in in 2002 and 2005. An 8th straight win would mean a 9-2 record through 11 games, equalling a franchise best, also accomplished in 2015 and 2002.
  • Current Rock Head Coach Matt Sawyer and NLL Hall of Famer and former Rock Head Coach Les Bartley are tied with 57 wins behind the bench of the Rock franchise. A Rock win tonight and Sawyer will become the winningest coach in Toronto Rock franchise history.
  • Tonight’s game is the first of three games in eight days for the Rock. They will travel to Philadelphia to face the Wings on Monday night at 7pm ET.  The Rock will be back at home next Saturday night to do battle with the Albany Firewolves on Indigenous Heritage Night.

Check out this week’s edition of the Toronto Rock Total Access podcast to get yourself ready for the game.  This week’s show features a great conversation with Toronto Rock Owner, President, and GM Jamie Dawick.

Fans should also check out the third episode of Rock City Unplugged, streaming now on the Rock’s YouTube Channel.

Tickets are still available for tonight’s game.  It’s Country Night and country music superstar Tim Hicks will perform at halftime.
