Here’s what to watch for in Saturday’s matchup.

  • The Rock can clinch a playoff berth tonight with a win over the Seals AND a Rochester loss to Halifax.
  • When the Rock and Seals met earlier in the season, Toronto did not win a single faceoff. Josh Jubenville (0-20), Justin Martin (0-1), Sam English (0-1), and Phil Mazzuca (0-1) combined to go 0-for-23 against San Diego’s Trevor Baptiste.  Since then, the Rock have added faceoff specialist Nick Rowlett who earlier this season while with the Wings went 8-for-19 against Baptiste for a 42% win rate.
  • Nick Rose on a heater. Since returning from injury, Rosey has been on an absolute heater going 3-0 and beating Vancouver, Halifax, and Saskatchewan.  His season stat line now includes a GAA of 10.12 and a save percentage of .801.
  • Special teams battle: The Rock have the league’s 8th best power play at 48% while the Seals check-in at 39% good for 11th The Rock have been on the man advantage the second fewest times at just 44 PP opportunities.  Only Buffalo at 42 has been on the man-up less times.
  • INJURY REPORT: TD Ierlan is on the PUP List. Zack Kearney, Kobe Handsor, and Robert Hudson are on the Season Ending Injured Reserve List. Justin Martin (Lower), Dan Craig (Lower), and Phil Mazzuca (Upper) are on the Injured Reserve List.
