Hostrawser and Sorensen Re-Sign

Toronto’s Defence Taking Shape

Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock Owner, President and GM Jamie Dawick has announced a 2-year contract extension for defenceman Bill Hostrawser and a 1-year extension for defenceman Brock Sorensen. The contracts are pending league approval.

Hostrawser, 27, enjoyed a career year in 2017-18. He established new career bests with 3 goals, 10 assists, 13 points and 109 loose balls. His loose ball total tied him for third on the team with Adam Jones, behind only Brad Kri (135) and Brodie Merrill (127). Overall, his loose ball vacuuming placed him in the top 20 in the league last season.

The Belwood, ON native has played five of his six pro seasons with the Rock after being acquired early in the 2014 season from the Vancouver Stealth where he began his NLL career.

The 29-year old Sorensen, originally selected second overall in the 2012 NLL Draft by the Swarm, played in every game in 2017-18 for the Rock. This was significant as the Peterborough, ON native was finally healthy after playing in just four games in the 2017 season while recovering from an ACL tear at the end of the 2016 season.

After playing two seasons with the Swarm, Sorensen has been in a Rock uniform for the past four campaigns and set a career high with 81 loose balls last year. He also showed his offensive flair last year scoring a dunk goal from behind the net that may have been the goal of the year for the Rock.

Both players were scheduled to become restricted free agents on Aug. 1 had they not re-signed with the club.
