Jamison Dilks Signs 2-Year Agreement

JAMISON DILKS SIGNS 2-YEAR AGREEMENT

Rookie Made The Best Of Opportunities in 19-20

Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock General Manager Jamie Dawick announced today that Rock defender Jamison Dilks has agreed to a two-year contract extension.  The signing is pending league approval.

The 21-year from Hamilton, ON was a fixture on the Rock’s practice roster for the bulk of the 2019-20 season after being selected by Toronto in the third round, 43rd overall in the 2019 NLL Draft.

On Jan. 31, he made his NLL debut at home against the Halifax Thunderbirds and then earned another shot in the lineup against those same Thunderbirds in Halifax on Feb. 21.  Those two appearances against one of the top teams in the North Division certainly left quite an impression on both Dawick and the Rock coaching staff.

“He’s a guy we believe in,” said Dawick.  “It’s very tough to get into the lineup and get minutes in this league as a rookie.  I don’t want to say we were surprised, but his two appearances this year showed he’s further ahead in his progress towards being an everyday pro than we anticipated at this stage of his development.  I’m very happy to get a two-year deal done.”

The Rock defender’s older brother Ryan plays for the Saskatchewan Rush and was the 2016 NLL Defensive Player of the Year.  The elder Dilks was also drafted by the Rock, selected in the fifth round, 50th overall in 2010, so it was no surprise when the Rock picked the younger Dilks in last year’s NLL Draft.

Last week, the NLL announced this year’s NLL Draft will be a virtual event on Tuesday, September 17.  Fans can watch on Bleacher Report Live, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter at 7:00 p.m. ET.
