’18 Draft Class Inked

ROCK SIGN DRAFT CLASS

All Four Draft Choices Sign 1-Year Agreements

Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock Owner, President and GM Jamie Dawick has announced the signing of all four of the team’s 2018 NLL Entry Draft selections to one-year agreements. The signings are pending league approval.

The four draft picks are defenders and each bring something to the table that Rock management and scouts identified as translatable to the NLL.

Brad Lyons (2nd Rd, 24th overall), AJ Kluck (4th Round 44th overall), Scott Dominey (5th Rd, 57th overall) and Mitchell Gustavsen (6th Rd, 68th overall) were all selected at the recent NLL Entry Draft in Phildelphia, PA and will all attend Rock training camp, beginning on Nov. 3, with hopes of landing a spot on the team’s roster.

“It’s an honour to sign with any NLL team, but Toronto always has a special place in my heart,” said Lyons, the Rock’s top pick. “I always went to games with my minor lacrosse team and my family. So, hearing my name called at the draft was emotional, I didn’t expect it, it’s a dream come true.”

The 19-year old Lyons from Clarington, ON understands there will be a significant transition from playing junior lacrosse to playing in the best lacrosse league in the world.

“I will be going from playing against boys to playing against men,” added Lyons. “The game is faster, the players are smarter and stronger. I will need to adjust to defending against bigger and faster players.

“I play a strong, physical game. I’m not afraid to get physical, I work for loose balls, play sound defence and when the time is right push the ball in transition.”

Fans won’t have to wait long to see the players in action as the Rock open the exhibition season on Sun., Nov 4 against the Georgia Swarm at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, ON.
