Bantams And Midgets Will Chase The Jr. NLL Cup Sunday

ROCK BANTAM AND MIDGET TEAMS WILL CHASE THE CUP SUNDAY

Peewee Jr. Rock Rally But Don’t Get Any Help

Oakville, ON – The round robin portion of the seventh annual Jr. NLL Tournament wrapped up on Saturday at both the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre and the Glen Abbey Recreation Centre in Oakville, ON.

The Jr. Rock Bantam and Jr. Rock Midget teams both advanced to the semi-finals on Sunday.  The Jr. Rock Peewee club fell just short of taking a run at their fourth consecutive crown.

After a tough 9-3 loss to the Jr. Mammoth, the Jr. Rock Bantam squad rebounded with a 17-4 win over the Jr. Wings to punch their ticket to Championship Sunday.  The Jr. Rock (3-1) have drawn the Jr. Seals in the semi-finals at 10:00 a.m.  The Bantam Jr. Rock are in search of their fourth straight Jr. NLL Cup.

The Midget Jr. Rock had just one game on Day 2 and it turned out to be a convincing 18-3 win over the Jr. Wings, pushing their record to a perfect 3-0 through round robin play in the Blue Division.  Their first opponent that stands in the way of back-to-back Jr. NLL Cups for the Jr. Rock is the Jr. Swarm in the semi-finals at 11:00 a.m. The Jr. Swarm finished 3-1 in the Red Division.

The Jr. Rock Peewees needed to win both games and get some help in order to advance after starting the tournament 0-2.  They took care of their own business beating the Jr. Mammoth 10-4 and the Jr. Wings 14-3.  However, they didn’t get the help they needed, and we will have a new Jr. NLL Peewee champion crowned on Sunday.

Players on the Toronto Rock teams are selected from players that competed in the Rock Elite League in 2018-19.  The new season for the Rock Elite League is just around the corner and registration is now open at torontorockac.com.

The Buffalo Bandits, Calgary Roughnecks, Colorado Mammoth, Georgia Swarm, Halifax Thunderbirds, New England Black Wolves, Philadelphia Wings, Rochester Knighthawks, San Diego Seals, Saskatchewan Rush and Toronto Rock will compete with over 500 players participating across Peewee, Bantam & Midget age levels. The teams will follow modified NLL playing rules in a safe and competitive environment. NLL players, coaches and staff will be on-hand all weekend, with some serving as Jr. NLL coaches.

Fans will be able to watch the three championship games on Sunday on the NLL’s YouTube channel. For schedules, stats and standings from the tournament, please click here.

There is no charge for admission and fans are invited to come and cheer on their favourite Jr. NLL squads from across the league.
