Billings is the Player of the Month

Toronto – Coming off his first All-Star Game appearance, Rock sophomore forward Garrett Billings has been named the NLL’s February Player of the Month.

Billings totaled 25 points in 5 February games as he poured in 13 goals and added 12 assists as the Rock went 4-1.

Billings started off the month with 3 goals and one assist in a loss to Boston on February 5th.  This game fell 2 weeks after he missed the first game of his pro career as a precautionary measure after sustaining a couple of hits at the tail end of a January 22nd loss at Buffalo.

In the 2nd week of February, the Rock needed overtime to put away the Calgary Roughnecks and Billings scored a pair of goals, picked up 7 loose balls and forced two turnovers.

The next weekend was one of the better weekends of the Rock season overall as Toronto posted two wins over Rochester.  Billings recorded back-to-back hat tricks in the two victories and a total of 9 points.  Billings was also credited with the game-winner in the February 18th win.

The sensational second-year forward turned in his best offensive performance at the end of the month with 2 goals and 8 assists for 10 points in Toronto’s 16-13 win over Philadelphia.

Billings now sits second on the team in scoring with 50 points while having played one less game than team leaders Stephan Leblanc and Blaine Manning who are tied for the lead with 52 points in 10 games.

At the All-Star Game on February 27th, Billings scored once and added an assist in the first All-Star appearance of his young career as his East All-Stars knocked off the West 30-26.

Friday night, Billings and the Rock host the Philadelphia Wings at 7:30pm at Air Canada Centre.  The game can also be seen live on TSN2.
