Challen Rogers Undergoes Successful Shoulder Surgery

Rock Defender Targets December Return

Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock Owner, President and General Manager Jamie Dawick today announced that defender Challen Rogers underwent successful shoulder surgery on June 17, repairing a labrum tear in his left shoulder. The recovery process is approximately six months and Rogers will be able to begin rehab exercises in about a week.

Rogers suffered a separated shoulder playing high school lacrosse in 2012, but it wasn’t until an MRI in his final season of NCAA lacrosse at Stony Brook that the labrum tear was identified. Rogers had learned to play with the injury and elected to wait until after his rookie season in the NLL to have the surgery to make the repair and help guard against future issues in that area of the body.

“The surgery went well,” said Rogers who was selected in the first round, second overall by the Rock in the 2016 NLL Draft last September. “My shoulder was getting worse and worse over the years and this was the right time to get everything cleaned up. I’m looking forward to being back in a Rock uniform as close to the start of the season as possible.”

The 22-year old from Coquitlam, BC played in 17 games for the Rock in 2017, missing one-game due to an unrelated injury. He scored three goals and added four assists for seven points to go along with 66 loose balls in those 17 regular season contests. He also played in both Rock playoff games, scoring once and picking up an assist.
