Annual Charity Game On February 4 Benefits Smilezone Foundation

Oakville, ON – The Toronto Rock will host their annual Charity Night on Saturday, February 4 when they take on the New York Riptide at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton, ON in National Lacrosse League action.  The Rock have several fundraising initiatives that will roll out leading up to and at the game, raising funds for a Smilezone Foundation project at the St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton Urgent Care Centre.

The Game Worn Auction, which includes the Steel City edition black and gold jerseys and shorts the players will wear on February 4, is now underway!  The auction will continue to run online until Tuesday, February 7 at 8pm ET.  The Steel City black and gold jerseys were first introduced as the Rock’s alternate jersey last season and the club has worn the jerseys once previously this season on December 17.

Fans will have several additional ways to support the annual fundraising efforts including purchasing a mystery autographed lacrosse ball at the game or by making a donation to the Smilezone Foundation at the Toronto Rock Team store located at section 115 on the FirstOntario Centre concourse.  Core Entertainment will also donate $1.50, for every pair of tickets sold, towards the evening’s fundraising totals.

New this year will be an extended 50/50 draw in co-operation with the Bulldogs Foundation that will run from Tuesday, January 31 through to the Rock’s Charity Night game on Saturday, February 4.  Fans can purchase tickets online at torontorock5050.com or in person at FirstOntario Centre during the Hamilton Bulldogs OHL hockey game on Friday, February 3 and at the Toronto Rock game the next night.

Smilezone Foundation believes that every child deserves to smile, no matter what circumstances they face. Over a single weekend, their team transforms an existing waiting room, treatment room or patient care room into a Smilezone! A Smilezone provides a bright, comforting, and engaging space for children and their families while spending time in a hospital or medical facility. Their Smilezones are custom designed with features such as fresh paint, murals, furniture, cabinetry and storage, sensory items, interactive technology such as iPads/Televisions/Projectors/Video Games, and much more! The Smilezone Foundation team works closely with the health care centre’s frontline staff to come up with a unique design that is guaranteed to bring a smile to kids’ faces.  For more information, visit Smilezone Foundation.

The game will be broadcast from coast to coast nationally on TSN and TSN+ at 7pm ET.
