Ground Broken!

Earlier Today, Jamie Dawick along with Rock Captain Colin Doyle, Oakville Mayor Rob Burton and Scott Bachly of Bachly Construction, broke ground together on Dawick’s new lacrosse facility.

The world-class lacrosse facility is located in Oakville on a 9-acre property on Invicta Drive.  The 81,000 square foot building will also serve as the practice facility and team offices for the Toronto Rock of the National Lacrosse League.

“It’s been a dream of mine for a couple of years” said Rock Owner and President Jamie Dawick.  “To be able to finally officially stick a shovel in the ground and get ready to build this is a real dream come true.”

Oakville Mayor Rob Burton also expressed his excitement about the new facility being the new practice and business operations hub for the Toronto Rock.

“I want to thank Jamie and the Rock for choosing Oakville as their home for this new facility,” said Mayor Burton.  “This is a great day for Oakville.”

With almost 50 years of experience in the construction business, Bachly Construction will be the builder of the project.

“We’re proud to be associated with the Toronto Rock and this new venture,” said Scott Bachly, President of Bachly Construction.  “I would like to personally thank Jamie and the Toronto Rock for selecting our team of professionals to build this project.”

Six-time NLL Champion and Captain of the Toronto Rock Colin Doyle is extremely excited about the future impact this building will have on lacrosse.

“The opportunity to play lacrosse year round was something I could never have dreamed of doing when I was growing up,” explained Doyle.  “Jamie shares a vision that lacrosse can be a primetime professional sport and this is a great step towards fulfilling that vision.”

The target finish date for the facility is March 2012.  Visit www.torontorock.com and follow the Rock on Twitter @TorontoRockLax for the latest construction news.
