What to watch for vs. San Diego Seals

Game 1 of the Best-of-3 NLL Semifinals

HAMILTON, ON – The Toronto Rock (#6 Playoff Seed) are at home for game 1 of the NLL Semifinals tonight against the San Diego Seals (#7 Playoff Seed) as the postseason continues. The Rock have made it to the NLL Semifinals in five of the last six seasons.

Fans can watch the game vs. San Diego at 7:30pm ET on TSN.  Alternatively, tune in on TSN’s digital platform TSN+ via TSN.ca and the TSN App as well as ESPN+.  To stream the game on TSN+ or ESPN+, a paid subscription is required.

Here’s what to watch for in Friday’s matchup.

  • The Toronto Rock swept the season series against the San Diego Seals this season. The Rock defeated the Seals 12-7 in San Diego and then defeated them again in Rock City by a much closer count of 7-5.
  • In that first matchup between the two clubs, Trevor Baptiste won every single faceoff in the game, but it wasn’t enough as the Seals were 5 goals short of the Rock’s total. In the second meeting, Baptiste won 75% of the faceoffs against the Rock’s Nick Rowlett and the Seals still came up 2 short and lost 7-5.  Just stats.
  • The Iceman could be the X-factor. The Rock’s Dan Craig has 22 points in just 5 regular season games against the Seals for an average of 4.4 points per game.  It might just be the Iceman’s chance to shine as he becomes more comfortable after returning from injury.
  • Chris Boushy’s 5 goals last week against Saskatchewan equalled a Rock franchise record for most goals in a playoff game. Boushy always elevates his game at the most important times of the year.  The other two players to do it were Stephan Leblanc (2010) and Colin Doyle (2005) in the NLL championship game.
  • The Rock and Seals have never met in the postseason, but in 7 all-time meetings, the Rock have won 6 of the 7 meetings.
  • INJURY REPORT: TD Ierlan is on the PUP List. Zack Kearney, Kobe Handsor, and Robert Hudson are on the Season Ending Injured Reserve List. Justin Martin (Lower) and Phil Mazzuca (Upper) are on the Injured Reserve List.
  • The 2026 NLL Semifinals continue with Game 2 on Sunday at 6pm ET in San Diego.
