Jr. Rock Start 2-0 Across The Board

Peewee, Bantam & Midget Teams Roll To Victories

Oakville, ON – The fifth annual Jr. NLL tournament is in full swing at Oakville’s Toronto Rock Athletic Centre and Glen Abbey Rec Centre. When day one came to a close, all three Toronto Rock entries were 2-0 after posting wins by wide margins throughout Friday in most cases.

The day began with the Midget Jr. Rock team starting slow but picking up steam, turning a 2-1 lead at the half, into an 11-2 win over the Jr. Saskatchewan Rush. After surrendering the first goal in their second game of the day against the Jr. Georgia Swarm, the Jr. Rock scored six straight goals and never looked back, cruising to a 13-4 win. The Midget Jr. Rock team is coached by Rock Owner, President and GM Jamie Dawick along with Rock players Bradley Kri and Challen Rogers.

The Bantam Jr. Rock steamrolled through their opening game with an 18-0 win over the Jr. Saskatchewan Rush. In game two of the day, the offence kept rolling with a 19-2 triumph over the Jr. Georgia Swarm. The Bantam Jr. Rock team has Nick Rose, Damon Edwards and Brett Hickey behind their bench as their leaders.

A balanced attack paced the Peewee Jr. Rock squad to a tournament opening 14-1 win over the Jr. New England Black Wolves. The afternoon matchup was a much tighter affair with the Jr. Rock escaping with a narrow 8-5 victory of the Jr. Georgia Swarm. Rock legend and former captain Colin Doyle is the head coach of the Peewee Jr. Rock with Rock strength coach Sean Holmes assisting.

Action resumes on Saturday morning and runs throughout the day at both the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre and the Glen Abbey Rec Centre.
