Mayor Ford Honours The Champs!

Toronto – Toronto Mayor Rob Ford welcomed Toronto Rock Owner and President Jamie Dawick and Captain Colin Doyle to City Council on Tuesday morning.

Mayor Ford and the City of Toronto Councillors invited the Rock to City Hall to pass along an official congratulatory message to the lacrosse club and the thousands of dedicated Rock fans.

“Toronto loves its sports teams, and loves its lacrosse team,” Mayor Ford proclaimed.  “I am proud of all of you for bringing this victory home to Toronto.”

Following Mayor Ford’s reading of the scroll, Dawick presented the Mayor with a Rock jersey and a Rock Championship hat.

“It’s an honour to be recognized in front of the City’s elected officials and Mayor Ford,” said Dawick.  “I would like to sincerely thank the Mayor and his staff for paying tribute to the Rock Championship.  I also appreciate the recognition of the over 14,000 fans that took in the Championship game at Air Canada Centre.”

All those in attendance at the NLL title game were treated to an incredible showcase of lacrosse, and for the hometown faithful, the 8-7 score was exactly what they asked for as the Rock captured their sixth NLL Championship.

“Being at City Hall and being recognized by the Mayor is something new for us,” said Doyle.  “We’ve won 6 Championships, but this is our first trip to City Hall.  The support I’ve seen for the franchise winning this time around has been really special.”

Also on Tuesday morning, 2012 Toronto Rock Season Tickets went on sale.  For more information about Rock Season Tickets, please visit www.torontorock.com or call the Rock office at 416-596-3075.
