Phil Caputo Traded To Rochester For 2nd Round Pick

ROCK TRADE PHIL CAPUTO TO ROCHESTER

Second Round Pick in 2020 Is The Return For Righty Forward

Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock Owner, President and GM Jamie Dawick today announced the trade of forward Phil Caputo to the Rochester Knighthawks.  Coming back to the Rock in the exchange is Rochester’s second round selection in the 2020 NLL Draft.

The 25-year old from Brampton, ON found his way into just two games last season and was in and out of the lineup during his three seasons in Toronto, playing both offence and defence at different times.  In 20 career games with the Rock, Caputo scored 10 goals and added 5 assists for 15 points.

“With the addition of Dan Dawson and us playing three right handed forwards on a regular basis, Phil was going to be in the same situation as last season,” said Dawick.  “Phil deserves the opportunity to play in this league and he’ll get that chance with Rochester.  We also pick up a draft pick in a deep draft in 2020 to help re-stock the cupboard.”

While the Rock do not have their own second round pick in the 2020 NLL Draft (previously dealt to Georgia for a 2017 second round pick), the pick acquired in this deal now gives the team two selections in next year’s second round.  Earlier this summer, the Rock were awarded a 2020 second round compensatory selection (along with a 2019 first round compensatory pick) as a result of the San Diego Seals signing unrestricted free agent Brodie Merrill prior to the 2018-19 season.
