ROCK ACQUIRE MCLELLAN AND MACLEOD

The Toronto Rock acquire Mike McLellan and Mat MacLeod in a National Lacrosse League dispersal draft of Orlando Titans players today. The pair of offensive players will add pressure to the Rock’s right side.

Toronto’s first round pick, ninth overall was Mike McLellan. The six-foot righty, enters his sixth season in the NLL, previously playing with the Arizona Sting in 2006, and the Titans since 2007. He has accumulated 188 points from 111 goals and 77 assists, scooped 152 loose balls, and a minimal 10 penalty minutes.

“We are looking for more off-ball offensive guys,” said Rock general manager Terry Sanderson. “That’s right up Mike’s alley; that’s what he lives on, it’s what he does.

“He’s a veteran guy with a good offensive touch, adding over 20 goals in each of his last four seasons.”

Mat MacLeod was selected by the Rock in the second round, 19th overall. MacLeod, 22, is a two-time Minto Cup champion with the Orangeville Northmen who has scored 14 goals in his three season professional career.

“He just needs a chance to prove himself,” said Sanderson of the young MacLeod. “He does a little bit of everything. With Orlando he ran out the back, but in his junior career he was an O-oriented player.”

The Colorado Mammoth selected goaltender Matt Vinc first overall. For full Orlando Titans dispersal draft results please visit the National Lacrosse League website.
