Rock Acquire Taylor Stuart From Colorado

ROCK ACQUIRE TAYLOR STUART FROM COLORADO FOR 2ND ROUND PICK

Defender Will Make His Rock Debut On Sunday

Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock Owner, President and GM Jamie Dawick announced today the acquisition of defender Taylor Stuart from the Colorado Mammoth in exchange for a 2020 second round draft pick.

The trade is pending league approval.

The pick going to Colorado from Toronto is Rochester’s 2020 second round selection.  The Rock acquired that pick from the Knighthawks in exchange for Phil Caputo on August 5, 2019.

The left-handed defender will fill a void on the Rock back end which is very heavy with right-handed defenders.

“Taylor is a player that we’ve liked for the last few years,” said Dawick.  “With some of our injuries mounting, we felt like this was an opportunity to improve our depth and Taylor became available, so we made the move.  His style of play fits well with our team’s approach to playing defence and we’re looking forward to him contributing right away.”

Originally selected in the fourth round, 35th overall in the 2016 NLL Draft by the Mammoth, the Coquitlam, BC native has appeared in 58 games and scored 7 goals, 26 assists and 33 points along with 275 loose balls and had 59 caused turnovers.

The four-year NLL veteran posted career-highs last season with the Mammoth scoring 5 goals and 15 points.  He also collected a career-best 99 loose balls, caused 20 turnovers and played in all 18 games.

To make room for Stuart on the Active Roster, the Rock have moved Alec Simons to the Practice Roster.

The Rock are 3-1 in North Division games this year, however they still sit in third place in the division with a 4-2 record.  On Sunday, the Rock have an opportunity to catch the 5-1 Buffalo Bandits in the standings as the two teams go head to head at Scotiabank Arena.

Fans can watch the game on Bleacher Report Live as well as Rogers Ignite and Digital TV.  The action gets underway at 3 p.m.
