Rock Can Sew Up Top Overall Seed Saturday

Toronto – On Saturday afternoon, the Toronto Rock (10-5) will be on the road to face the Philadelphia Wings (6-8) at Wells Fargo Center.  The game will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network at 4:30pm ET.

A win for the Rock, and they clinch the number one overall playoff seed for the 2013 Champion’s Cup Playoffs.  Last weekend, the Rock defeated Rochester at Air Canada Centre in Toronto to clinch the East Division title and home floor throughout the divisional playoffs.

“We enjoy playing at home,” said Rock GM and assistant coach Terry Sanderson.  “If we are fortunate enough to win on Saturday, we know the road to the Champion’s Cup will go through Toronto.  It’s something we look forward to.”

Rock forward Garrett Billings also has some individual glory on the line as he’s currently 6 points ahead of Calgary’s Shawn Evans for the NLL scoring title.  Evans still has two games left on the regular season schedule whereas this Saturday in Philadelphia will be Billings’ final regular season game.

Also, the 27-year old Rock forward sits at 98 points on the season, just two points away from becoming the first player in Rock franchise history to record back-to-back 100-point seasons.

Despite the personal milestones on the horizon for Billings, he’s more focused on the team success that potentially lies ahead.

“It means so much for this franchise to play home playoff games,” said Billings.  “We control our own destiny at this point.”

The Rock and Wings have split their two previous regular season meetings thus far with each team winning on the road.  The most recent matchup saw the Rock defeat the Wings 13-8 at Wells Fargo Center on March 16th.

The Rock will host a first round playoff game, as the East Division Semi-Final will be played at Air Canada Centre on Sunday, April 28th at 3pm.  Single game tickets and 3-game playoff packs are now on sale.  For the best ticket in town, visit www.torontorock.com or call 416-596-3075.
