ROCK CITY DANCERS AUDITIONS ANNOUNCED
Rebranded Dance Crew Will Bring The Energy
Oakville, ON – The Toronto Rock are pleased to announce the audition dates and timeline for the selection of the rebranded Rock City Dancers. The new dance crew will be inclusive of all genders featuring high energy performers from across the GTHA.
“The time away during the pandemic has allowed for some additional evaluation into just how we engage our fans and help keep the energy at a high level throughout the games,” said Rock City Dancers Head Coach, Meagan Speakman. “After careful consideration we felt the time was right to rebrand to the Rock City Dancers, elevate our standard of performances and leave our fans even more entertained. Rock City can expect the same high energy in our routines, but with more dance hype than ever!”
In addition to the Rock City Dancers, the Rock will be adding a promotional team that will be active on the concourse and in the stands from the time the doors open, through to the final buzzer.
“Rock City is all about community,” said Speakman. “With being in a new building and engaging with new fans, we identified a real need to have a highly engaging team of ambassadors to help educate fans on the building’s amenities, the game itself and help gets fans excited about the world-class athletes playing in front of them.”
Those interested in auditioning for the Rock City Dancers must first complete the online registration form. From there, applicants will receive a video link to the audition choreography. Those auditioning must then submit a video to the Toronto Rock by Monday, September 27 at 10am ET.
The second phase of the audition process will take place with callbacks on October 3 at FirstOntario Centre’s Concert Hall.
Auditions are open to all genders and you must be 19 years of age by October 3, 2021. Dance and/or cheer experience is required. All Rock City Dancers must be available on October 23, 24 and November 14, as well as for rehearsals on Thursday evenings starting mid-October, and all scheduled home games. Representing the team at community events is also a requirement throughout the season and summer months.
“Any hopefuls auditioning must dance like they are ready to hit the turf on day one. This team will need to have enough energy to fill an arena, so I am expecting everyone to dance full out and showcase their talents during the audition process,” explained Speakman.
The promo team will be selected through an application and interview process with details released next month.
The Toronto Rock Home Opener is scheduled for Saturday, December 4 at Hamilton’s FirstOntario Centre. Tickets for the game are now on sale to the general public through ticketmaster.ca and torontorock.com.
