Rock Own Six Picks In Monday’s NLL Draft

Annual Selection Process Goes Monday At Oakville’s Toronto Rock Athletic Centre

Oakville, ON – The Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, ON will once again serve as the host for the annual NLL Draft. The selection process begins at 7:00 p.m. ET and the Toronto Rock hold six picks in the six-round draft. In total, 59 players will be selected and begin their pursuit of playing at the highest level in the best lacrosse league in the world.

Toronto does not have a first round pick in this year’s draft as that selection was traded, along with Ethan O’Connor, to the Georgia Swarm in exchange for Brock Sorensen in the summer of 2014. The Rock’s first pick will be in the second round, 18th overall. Toronto has their own pick in rounds two through six and has an additional fourth round selection, acquired from the Rochester Knighthawks for Kevin Ross in December of 2016.

2017 Toronto Rock Draft Picks by round:

  1. Toronto

THIRD ROUND

  1. Toronto

FOURTH ROUND

  1. Toronto (from Rochester)
  2. Toronto

FIFTH ROUND

SIXTH ROUND

At the 2016 NLL Draft, the Rock hit the jackpot. Toronto grabbed Challen Rogers (1st Rd, 2nd overall), Latrell Harris (2nd Rd, 12th overall) and Jordan Magnuson (3rd Rd, 23rd overall). All three made the active roster and cumulatively played all but two games in 2017, helping Toronto return to the post-season after failing to make the playoffs in 2016. The Rock will be hard pressed to match that staggering haul in this year’s draft, but you just never know.

Live coverage of the 2017 NLL Draft begins at 6:30 p.m. ET on NLLTV.com with the pre-draft show. At 7:00 p.m., the Buffalo Bandits will be on the clock as they hold the first overall selection after finishing last in 2017.

Toronto Rock training camp is slated to begin the first weekend in November, with three exhibition games to follow before opening the 2017-18 season on Friday, December 8 in Buffalo, NY against the Bandits. The Rock’s home opener is Saturday, December 16 against the Saskatchewan Rush at Air Canada Centre.
