TORONTO ROCK SELECT FIVE AT NLL DRAFT
Rock 2nd Round Pick Luc Magnan Is All Smiles

Oakville, ON – The Toronto Rock made five selections on Monday night at the annual NLL Draft, held at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville.  In total, 55 players were selected in the six round draft and now begin their professional lacrosse journey.

The Rock made their first selection of the night in the 2nd round, 10th overall by selecting forward Turner Evans.  The 22-year old, Peterborough, Ontario native finished in the top 10 in Ontario Junior A scoring in each of his final three seasons of Junior A lacrosse with the Peterborough Lakers.  His first season in Ontario’s Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) in the summer of 2015 with Peterborough proved he could continue to put the ball in the net against men with 42 points in 18 games.  He also played collegiately at Ohio State University.

With their second pick in the second round, the Rock selected defender Luc Magnan from the Brampton Excelsiors of the MSL.  Magnan played his NCAA lacrosse at Robert Morris University and prior to that played high school field lacrosse for the Hill Academy and was coached by current Rock transition player Brodie Merrill.  Magnan is originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba and made the move to Ontario playing for both the Toronto Beaches and Six Nations Arrows during his Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League (OJALL) career.

Forward Kyle Aquin was the Rock’s next selection in the 4th round, 34th overall.  Aquin had an excellent OJALL career with the Burlington Chiefs.  From there, Aquin has suited up for a couple of MSL teams, seeing time with Oakville and Brooklin.  The 25-year old, Hamilton, Ontario native is a recent graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

The Rock held two picks in the 6th round and nabbed a couple of defenders.  The first of which, 53rd overall, was Jamie Batten from the Halton Hills Bulldogs of the Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League (OJBLL).  Batten, from Caledon, Ontario, played all five years of his Junior career with Halton Hills where he served as team captain over his final two seasons.

With their second sixth round selection, 54th overall, Toronto selected Tyler Roche from the Peterborough Lakers.  The 21-year old rugged defender competed for Team Ireland in the recent World Indoor Lacrosse Championships in Syracuse, NY.

Next up for these young Rock hopefuls will be Toronto Rock training camp which will get underway on Saturday, November 28th.
