Rock Sign Three Draft Picks

Top Pick Belgrave Among Recent Signings

Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock Owner, President and GM Jamie Dawick today announced the signing of three of the team’s 2017 NLL Draft picks. Drew Belgrave, Riley Hutchcraft and Dan Craig have all signed one-year agreements, pending league approval.

The Rock selected a total of seven players at the NLL’s annual selection process. Belgrave was the Rock’s top pick, selected in the second round, 15th overall. Dawick made a deal on the draft floor to acquire the 15th pick with his sights set on the athletic defender.

Toronto used their own second round pick to select Zac Masson, 18th overall. He won’t be available to suit up for the Rock until the University of Alaska-Anchorage hockey season is over as Masson is entering his freshman year.

Hutchcraft will come to Rock camp with an eye on securing the number three goaltender position after the departure of Steve Fryer via free agency to Colorado. With veterans Nick Rose and Brandon Miller returning, the young netminder will have some time to develop under the tutelage of a pair of the game’s greats.

Craig is a few years removed from his OJALL MVP award he won with the Barrie Jr. A Lakeshores in 2014, but the Penn State grad is looking to re-establish his indoor game after taking the last couple of summers off to nurse injuries and focus on his collegiate outdoor lacrosse career.

Toronto Rock training camp is slated to begin on Friday, November 3rd at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, ON. The Rock will play three exhibition games at the TRAC in November before beginning the regular season at Buffalo against the Bandits on Friday, December 8.
