ROCK SIGN UFA CREIGHTON REID

Defender Returns To Toronto

Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock Owner, President and GM Jamie Dawick has announced the signing of unrestricted free agent defender Creighton Reid to a one-year agreement. The contract is pending league approval.

The 31-year old from Milton, ON began his NLL career in 2010 with the Rock and spent two seasons in Toronto. The Rock made it to the NLL Cup final in both of his seasons in Toronto and culminated with a championship in 2011.

“Creighton was a big part of our championship in 2011,” said Dawick. “When you make a deal in this league you have to give something to get something, but it was a very tough decision to move him after winning a championship. We have followed him closely since he left Toronto and we’re confident that he’s still got a lot left to give and a lot of gas in the tank. This is an opportunity for him to move back east and be a veteran guy and provide some leadership among our defensive group.”

Reid has enjoyed a workmanlike NLL career and posted career highs in goals with seven and points with 15 in 2015 with Colorado. He hung his hat with the Mammoth following his time with the Rock up until being moved to Calgary during the 2017 season. At the tail end of last season, he was moved to the Roughnecks’ practice roster making him an unrestricted free agent heading into the 2018-19 season.

While primarily regarded as a stay-at-home defender, Reid has proven to have the ability to push the ball in transition and make the most of his opportunities. He has 22 career goals on just 72 shots on goal, which means he cashes in 31 percent of the time.

“He has decent speed and some finish to his game,” explained Dawick. “He’ll score some goals in transition when given the chance, but it all starts in our own end. His game fits the style we want to play out the back end.”

The Toronto Rock will open their training camp in preparation for the 2018-19 season in early November with a full slate of exhibition games scheduled for the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, ON. A complete training camp and pre-season schedule will be announced at a later date.
