Rock Taking on Twitter

Toronto – The Toronto Rock are taking Twitter by storm.  Ten Toronto Rock players as well as President and Owner Jamie Dawick (@JDawick) can be found firing out witty banter and insight on Twitter.

“I think it’s a great way to engage fans and interact,” said Dawick.  “I hadn’t tweeted at all prior to the World Series of Poker in July, but I found the interaction while I was in Las Vegas with both lacrosse and poker fans to be a tremendous experience.”

Players utilizing Twitter include newly acquired Josh Sanderson (@joshsanderson19) and his cousin, veteran Rock defender, Phil Sanderson (@18flipper).  The latter has always been known to deliver a gem or two in the locker room and hasn’t disappointed in his first days of tweeting.

Other Toronto Rock players on Twitter include:

Cam Woods               @CamWoods22

Aaron Pascas            @AaronPascas

Glen Bryan                @GBryan27

Blaine Manning         @ManningBlaine

Patrick Merrill            @PatrickMerrill9

Stephan Leblanc       @StephanLeblanc

Bruce Codd               @OkotoksRaider

Jesse Gamble           @JGamble9

The National Lacrosse League’s Social Media policy allows each individual team to create their own rules for their own staff and players to follow.

“This is a case of the most accessible pro athletes becoming even more accessible to fans,” explained Dawick.

In addition, Rock fans can always follow the official Twitter feed of the Toronto Rock @TorontoRockLax.  The Toronto Rock, with over 3,000 followers, are the most followed team on Twitter in the NLL.
