Sheldon Burns Signs One-Year Deal

Veteran Defender Returns For Fifth Season

Oakville, ON – Toronto Rock Owner, President, and GM Jamie Dawick announced today that the club has signed veteran defender Sheldon Burns to a one-year agreement for the 2022-23 season.

The signing is pending league approval.

Burns was acquired in December of 2017 from the New England Black Wolves in exchange for Stephan Leblanc.  In his first season with the Rock, he scored 8 goals and chipped in with career-highs of 14 assists and 22 points.

Since then, the 30-year-old from Whitby, ON has cemented himself as an important piece of what was the NLL’s best defence in 2021-22, allowing the fewest goals-against.

“We’re glad to have Sheldon back,” said Dawick.  “He’s become a mainstay on defence with our club over the last few years and a valuable part of the team.  We hope that continues.”

The NLL Draft is Saturday afternoon at 2pm ET at The Carlu in Toronto.  Fans can watch the first round of the draft live on TSN.ca and the TSN App.
