Toronto Maple Leaf Dave Bolland Returns To His Roots

Toronto, ON – There is no shortage of National Hockey League players that made lacrosse their summer sport of choice and two-time Stanley Cup Champion Dave Bolland is no exception.  On Wednesday evening, the 27-year old will pick up the stick again to throw the ball around with several Rock players including Stephan Leblanc, Patrick Merrill as well as recently retired Rock great Blaine Manning at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (TRAC) in Oakville, ON.

The Toronto Maple Leafs forward grew up spending his summers on Drummond Street at the Mimico Arena playing lacrosse for his hometown Mimico Mountaineers.  Bolland completed his minor lacrosse career and graduated to play for the local Junior B squad for a year at 17 before laying down his stick and focusing on his junior hockey career with the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what he’s got,” said Rock forward Stephan Leblanc who played against Bolland growing up.  “He might be a bit rusty, but I am sure he will do just fine.”

After spending some time with members of the Rock, Bolland will visit with the Mimico Midget “A” team as the minor lacrosse players will practice in preparation for the Ontario Lacrosse Association’s Final 6 tournament which will decide the Provincial “A” Champions at Midget, Bantam and Peewee this weekend at the TRAC.

Bolland was recently acquired by his hometown Toronto Maple Leafs after winning the second of his two career Stanley Cups in June with the Chicago Blackhawks.  He will forever be remembered by ‘Hawks fans as the man who scored the game winning goal in Game 7 against the Boston Bruins to give Chicago their second NHL championship in four seasons.

2014 Toronto Rock Season Tickets and the brand new Toronto Rock Season Pass will go on sale on Thursday morning at 10am.  The Toronto Rock Season Pass gets you a seat for all nine regular season home games at Air Canada Centre for just $99.99.  For more information, please visit www.torontorock.com or phone 416-596-3075 to speak with a ticket representative.
