What to watch for vs. Georgia Swarm

Rock Nearing Must-Win Territory

Mississauga, ON – The Toronto Rock (3-7) still have plenty of runway left in this season to turn things around, but the only way to take advantage of that is winning.  Tonight, the Rock will attempt to snap a two-game losing skid when they host the Georgia Swarm (5-4) at Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga.

Fans can watch the game vs. Georgia at 7:00pm ET on NLL+ for FREE and on TSN’s digital platform TSN+ via TSN.ca and the TSN App as well as ESPN+.  To stream the game on TSN+ or ESPN+, a paid subscription is required.

Here’s what to watch for in Saturday’s matchup.

  • This is the second and final meeting of the regular season between the Rock and the Swarm. Georgia escaped their first matchup with Toronto with a 10-9 win on December 14.  Some would say by the slimmest of margins…
  • Special Teams: The Rock (45%) and the Swarm (44%) are almost exactly even in terms of power play percentage, however the Rock have the second best penalty kill in the league at 62% while the Swarm are 10th at just 52%.
  • Earlier this week, the Rock signed free agent forward Nathan Grenon to a 1-year agreement. With Brian Cameron now on the Injured Reserve, the Rock were looking for a spark on the left side and they are hoping the former 1st round pick can deliver.
  • In the last five Rock losses, they have a combined goal differential of just minus-6. While the Rock’s record is what it is, all signs are still pointing to this team continuing to fight their way towards a postseason berth.  If things start to break the Rock’s way over the final 8 games of the season, look out.
  • On Thursday, the NLL announced a one-game suspension to Rock assistant coach Rusty Kruger for his part in a post-game altercation with the Bandits on Feb. 14. Toronto Rock Director of Player Development Dan Dawson will take his place on the bench for tonight’s game.
  • Dan Craig is just one assist away from 200 in his NLL career.
  • The Rock will have a bye week next weekend and then head out on the road for a pair as they will face Halifax on March 7 and Vancouver on March 14.

A new episode of the Toronto Rock Total Access Podcast is out now.  This week’s guest is Nathan Grenon.  Listen to the show to get you ready for tonight’s game!

Fans should also check out a new episode of Rock City Unplugged, streaming now on the Rock’s YouTube Channel and on TSN+.
