What to watch for vs. Las Vegas Desert Dogs

Rock City Invades Sin City

Las Vegas, NV – The Toronto Rock (8-2) do battle with the Las Vegas Desert Dogs (4-6) on Friday night at Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The Rock hope to continue their perfect play on the road and maintain their spot atop the NLL unified standings.

Fans can watch the game vs. Las Vegas at 10:00pm ET on TSN’s digital platform TSN+ via TSN.ca and the TSN App as well as ESPN+.  To stream the game, you need a TSN+ subscription.

Here’s what to watch for in Friday’s matchup.

  • The countdown to 1k is on! Mark Matthews is just 2 points away from 1,000 in his brilliant NLL career!  The league could see two players hit 1,000 career points on the same night.  San Diego’s Curtis Dickson is just 6 points away from achieving the same feat.  With both teams in action on Friday night and the Seals’ game beginning two hours prior to the Rock’s game, Dickson may hit the milestone “before” Matthews.  However, Matthews has played 25 fewer games than Dickson.
  • Following this morning’s shoot around, the Rock placed Mitch de Snoo on the Active Roster from the Injured Reserve List. Cam Milligan was placed on the Practice Roster from the Active Roster.
  • During the off-season in 2022, the Rock traded Rob Hellyer to Las Vegas for 2024 + 2025 1st Round Draft Picks. So, there’s a lot to unpack here.  First, it’s the first time the Rock will play against Hellyer, a member of the Rock’s championship squad in 2011.  Second, something the players on the floor may not be playing for but as an organization, a Rock win drops Las Vegas in the standings thus improving the Rock’s draft position come September.
  • The Rock have yet to lose on the road this season winning all four of their games away from Rock City.
  • The Rock are a +27 in GF/GA while the Desert Dogs are a -23 on the season.
  • Injury Report: Josh Jubenville (UBI), Challen Rogers (UBI), Dan Craig (UBI) are listed as out. Mitch de Snoo (LBI) is questionable for tonight’s game. Tyler Hendrycks, Latrell Harris, Chase Schiavon and Jordan McKenna all remain on the PUP List.
  • The Rock will be right back at it tomorrow night when they travel to San Diego to battle Seals in a matchup of two of the NLL’s top teams.

Fans should also check out the latest episode of Rock City Unplugged, streaming now on the Rock’s YouTube Channel and on TSN+.
