What to watch for vs. Philadelphia Wings

Rock Want To Start Things Off Right At Home

Hamilton, ON – The Toronto Rock will open their 2023-24 season at home against the Philadelphia Wings (1-0) on Saturday night at FirstOntario Centre in Hamilton.  The Wings won their season opener last weekend, defeating the New York Riptide 13-10 on the road.

Fans can watch the game vs. Philadelphia at 7:00pm ET on TSN and TSN’s digital platform TSN+ via TSN.ca and the TSN App as well as ESPN+.  To stream the game, simply login to TSN+ with your cable or satellite provider’s credentials or your TSN+ account info as you must have a subscription to view NLL games.

Here’s what to watch for in Saturday’s matchup.

  • The Rock have several new faces on the roster. The most notable are Mark Matthews, Chris Boushy, and Dan Lintner who were all acquired in separate off-season trades.  Free Agent defender Justin Martin cracked the active roster, while fellow free agent signing Cam Milligan made the practice roster.  Forward Zack Kearney, the Rock’s top pick in the 2023 NLL Draft, will begin the year on the Active Roster after Chris Corbeil was moved to the IR earlier this week.
  • Notable departures are Dan Dawson who retired as the NLL’s all-time leader in assists and games played. Greg Downing remains an unsigned unrestricted free agent.  Adam Jay, Zach Manns, and Jamison Dilks were all traded away.
  • Milestone watch in full effect for Nick Rose this season. He is poised to pass Bob Watson for most minutes played, saves, and wins in Rock franchise history.
  • Latrell Harris suffered a torn ACL near the end of the PLL season and underwent surgery in September. He is expected to miss the 2023-24 regular season.
  • Chris Corbeil and Tom Schreiber are both on the IR. With three bye weeks in December/early January, the two stars will not be rushed back into the lineup.
  • The Rock will travel to Panther City (Fort Worth, TX) to face PCLC for the first time ever on December 22.
